TV stars have been filming in Huddersfield and Calderdale. Actor Sean Bean, former Coronation Street actress Suranne Jones and Shameless star Jack Deam are all filming new series in the area. Suranne Jones, who played Karen McDonald in the hit soap and is playing Martha in the drama Harley Street on ITV, will be filming in and around Huddersfield over the coming months. She will star in ITV drama Unforgiven, which features the story of a woman who is integrated back into the community after serving 15 years for murdering two policemen. It also stars former Hollyoaks star Will Mellor as well as ex-Dr Who Peter Davison, Jemma Redgrave and Shameless and Clocking Off star Deam. He was in Huddersfield town centre where Cartridge World, the printer ink refill store in John William Street, was dramatically changed into a stationers for a couple of hours. It was all part of filming for the three-part drama Unforgiving, scheduled to be aired on ITV early next year. Deam was filmed in a scene leaving the shop and chatting on his mobile phone. Other scenes will be shot in Huddersfield and Halifax. On Sunday, the junction of Newsome Road, Kings Bridge, Damside and Kings Mill Lane will be closed and traffic, including buses, will be diverted between 6am and 1pm to allow filming for Unforgiving. Sheffields Sean Bean, who starred in The Lord Of The Rings, will appear in Red Riding, which is a serialisation of the Red Riding books by Ossett author David Peace. The star has been filming in the Arden Road Social Club near Halifax town centre. The story is set at the time of the Yorkshire Ripper murders. Screen Yorkshire, which promotes the region as a place to film television programmes and films, is backing the productions. |
