I’m flicking through the Offer Document for ‘Clean Skin’, the UK Film Studio thriller which will star Sean Bean www.ukfs.biz. The minimum shareholding is 2000. Punters have to make their minds up by 15th January. They are aiming to raise 1,500,000 which apparently makes it low budget.

Contrast that with ‘The Hunt for Gollum’ http://www.thehuntforgollum.com/updates.htm a LOTR fan film made for 3500 and released in May 2009. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality. The same group have made another film called ‘Born of Hope’ http://www.bornofhope.com/Welcome.html which is even better.

Perks of the ‘Clean Skin’ offer iinclude the opportunities to be an extra for a day and attend the after-show drinks party.

Alternatively I could dress up as an orc and leap around Epping Forest before meeting a timely, well-deserved death and spending an evening in the pub.

If you’re a fan of Lord of the Rings, please accept the two fan films as late Christmas presents to enjoy as an alternative to the big-budget TV repeats. I’m sure they would appreciate a little bit of ‘investment’ too.

So what’s it to be, West End glitter or north London mud?
