Creator of Trainspotting and Acid House, Irvine Welsh, is set to direct gritty British comedy The Magnificent Eleven.

The film is being produced by John Adams and the team at Angry Badger Pictures and is set to star Sean Bean (Flightplan, National Treasure, Lord of the Rings), Dougray Scott (Hitman, Dark Water, Mission Impossible II) and Robert Vaughn (Superman III, The Towering Inferno and last surviving member of The Magnificent Seven).

The film is a modernization of the classic Western in which the Cowboys are a local amateur soccer team, the Indians run a nearby Tandoori restaurant, and the bandits are a group of menacing thugs led by a maniac known simply as Blonde Bob.

Angry Badger Pictures is a Shepperton Studios based Production Company formed in 2008 by Pete and John Adams along with experienced producers Ron Purdie and Ian Dray.

The film is set to start shooting in June.
