BURTON film star Paddy Considine is to appear alongside Sean Bean and David Morrissey in a film trilogy for Channel Four.

The Dead Man’s Shoes and Bourne Ultimatum actor is currently filming Red Riding, a chilling three-part television crime drama, based on the author David Peace’s novels which are set against the back drop of the hunt for murderer Peter Sutcliffe, otherwise known as the Yorkshire Ripper.

The television series, written by Tony Grisoni, will be based on Peace’s novels Nineteen Seventy-Four, Nineteen Eighty and Nineteen Eighty-Three with elements of Nineteen Seventy-Seven included in all three of the films.

Considine, who grew up on the Manners Estate in Winshill and now lives in Anslow, will be playing Assistant Chief Constable Peter Hunter and Lesley Sharp will play his wife, Joan.

Other British stars include Sean Bean, David Morrissey, Mark Addy, Jim Carter, Warren Clarke, Maxine Peake, Saskia Reeves and Sean Harris.

The series will be three 120-minute feature films and will be made in association with Revolution Films, Screen Yorkshire and Lip Sync.

The trilogy is scheduled for transmission next year.

Considine has already made his small screen debut earlier in the year where he appeared with Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction star Uma Thurman in the critically acclaimed My Zinc Bed, in which he played a penniless poet working as an alcoholic freelance journalist.
